The Anaheim Ducks returned to the Honda Center ice for the start of the second period of Game 2 with a surprise face in net.
Jonathan Bernier entered the game after a first period that saw the Ducks’ starter, John Gibson, stop all 10 shots he faced.
The Ducks have announced that it’s a lower-body that ended Gibson’s night. It’s suspected the injury occurred during flurry of Nashville chances that saw him go post-to-post and extend his right leg to make a stop. Toward the end of that sequence you also see him fall back on his right leg.
Bernier last saw game action when he relieved Gibson early in Game 6 during Edmonton’s 7-1 rout last round. He also replaced Gibson in Game 3 of the Ducks’ first-round series against the Calgary Flames.
