The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate nephew Archie's birthday with sweet post

Watch: Harry and Meghan to celebrate as son Archie turns two

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked the second birthday of their nephew, Archie Harrison, on Thursday (6 May) by sharing a lovely photograph from his christening on their official Instagram account.

The family snap shows young Archie in the arms of his mum, Meghan Markle, and surrounded by dad Prince Harry as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Other guests who feature in the snap include Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.

The picture was taken by photographer Chris Allerton following the private christening ceremony at Windsor Castle in July 2019.

Alongside the throwback photograph, Will and Kate wrote in the accompanying caption: "Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today. 🎈🎂."

The royal family's official Instagram account also posted a lovely photograph to mark little Archie's big day, opting for a photograph of him as a newborn with his parents, Prince Harry and Meghan.

The picture was taken at his first official photocall, shortly after his birth in May 2019, as his proud parents presented him to the world.

In the accompanying caption, the royal family wrote: "Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today. 🎈."

Archie's grandfather, Prince Charles, also marked his birthday with a special post on the official Clarence House Instagram account.

He and the Duchess of Cornwall shared a beautiful black and white photo, again taken at Archie's christening in July 2019, showing the little one in the arms of his dad, as Prince Charles looks down at him.

The accompanying caption reads: "Happy birthday to Archie, who turns two today. 🎂."

Wishing a very happy birthday to little Archie!
