The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have publicly reacted to the Queen's official Jubilee statement that declares her wishes for the Duchess of Cornwall to become Queen Consort when Prince Charles becomes King.

In a post published on The Queen’s official Instagram account, a snippet of her official letter published to mark the 70th anniversary of her Accession declares her public backing of Duchess Camilla's succession. The post was "liked" by Prince William and Kate via their own Instagram account, @dukeanduchessofcambridge as a mark of their approval and support behind the message.

Other Royal fans were quick to like the post, with over 490k commenting things like, "Wishing you all the best on this momentous occasion. Happy Platinum Jubilee your Majesty," and "We are a blessed nation of people to have enjoyed you as our Monarch all these years, you mean so much to us, thank you."

The message that the Queen would like Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, to have the title of Queen Consort when the Prince of Wales becomes King is an an endorsement from the very top, say royal commentators - and one that is well-deserved after years of loyalty and hard work.

Since marrying into the Royal Family 17 years ago, Camilla, 74, has grown into her role as a senior royal and Prince Charles has described the message as a deep honour for both him and his "darling wife".

Camilla has been praised for championing her own causes and interests, including supporting literacy charities, animal welfare and organisations helping victims of domestic abuse. She has also been outspoken on the issue of sexual violence against women and according to royal author Penny Junor, "She's been loyal, discreet and works her socks off with her charities and supports the prince."
