Yahoo News Dumbo: Danny DeVito encourages fans to 'find their magic feather' on red carpet at European premiere
Danny DeVito encouraged fans to “find their magic feather” as he gave peace signs at the Dumbo premiere on Thursday night.
The legendary actor was among Disney stars gathered in London for the European premiere of the Tim Burton live-action remake at the Curzon in Mayfair, London.
And DeVito, 74, was all smiles as he praised “master” Burton’s film during an interview on ITV London, urging the audience to “trust” in themselves – just like the flying elephant.
“We’re talking about inspiring people. The elephant really trusts what he has,” DeVito told the broadcaster. “Everybody has to find their magic feather.”
In the film, DeVito stars as struggling circus owner Max Medici, whose business is acquired by businessman V.A Vandevere, played by Michael Keaton, who is determined to exploit Dumbo.
The American actor laughed and joked with the photographers as he posed for pictures before heading to the fans to sign autographs.
Colin Farrell, who stars as war veteran Holt, was jokingly warned not to use “colourful language” during his teatime interview as he and DeVito were asked about the “swear jar” they had on set.
Discussing the upcoming film, Farrell talked about his character – who is enlisted to care for Dumbo – shovelling “horses***” when he first comes back from war.
“I just have to apologise about when Colin said a wee naughty word,” Kelly said after the interview. “Some of you weren’t happy about that!”
DeVito and Farrell were joined on the carpet by director Tim Burton and children Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins, who play Holt’s children Milly and Joe who are the first ones to notice Dumbo’s talent.
Parker is the teenager daughter of Line of Duty actress Thandie Newton, who was also on the carpet alongside husband and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Director Ol Parker.
Reality star Scarlett Moffatt, Love Island’s Eyal Booker and singer Olly Murs were also among the attendees to walk to red carpet at the European premiere, which comes weeks after the Los Angeles celebration.
Dumbo will be released in cinemas on March 29.
