Dumbo 2019 trailer: Tim Burton's take on Disney classic leaves fans in tears

Dumbo takes flight after finding his courage in Tim Burton’s live action reimagining of the Disney classic.

The loveable elephant has been brought to life in the first full-length trailer for the magical tale which follows the newborn as he battles the bullies over his unusually huge ears.

Dumbo can be seen learning to fly before being installed by Danny DeVito’s Max Medici as the main attraction at his struggling Dreamland circus in the two minute clip.

The film boasts a stellar cast including Colin Farrell, whose character Holt Farrier is hired to care for Dumbo, Micheal Keaton as exploitative entrepreneur V. A. Vandemere, and Eva Green as French trapeze artist Colette Marchant.

The trailer left fans in tears with many unable to cope with the young mammal being ripped from his mother and slapped with clown face paint.

One tweeted: “Couldn’t even finish the trailer without crying tbh.”

Another wrote: “As if life wasn’t hard enough, they had to go and re-make the most devastating movie of my childhood.”

A third posted: “Omg I just cried watching the trailer.. now imagine when I see the movie.”

The film is expected to closely follow the plot of the 1941 Disney classic, with the trailer giving a nod to the famous Elephants on Parade scene which saw Dumbo become intoxicated and the lullaby Baby Mine.

It follows the success of other reboots including Beauty And The Beast and The Jungle Book. Aladdin is set to be released in May, followed by The Lion King in July.

Dumbo is slated for release on March 29 2019
