A Dumfries farm has created a poignant tribute for Remembrance Day.

The team at Dalscone Farm Fun has spray-painted a poppy onto much-loved goat Martin and added the words "We will remember them".

And the gesture has been welcomed on social media, with thousands of likes and hundreds of supportive comments since the photo was shared on Facebook on Remembrance Sunday.

Janet Stevens said: "Ahh that’s so thoughtful. Thanks for putting this on. For sure 'We will remember them'."

Bobby Jo Vavra added: "Oh, wow! This is so heartfelt! Remembering all who have sacrificed for the freedoms of our country.

"Thank you for keeping us in your hearts!"

Many other commenters had relatives who had served in the armed forces or were military veterans themselves.

Dalscone Farm Fun is popular with families across Dumfries and Galloway and beyond, giving youngsters to see animals up close.

Last year, owner Ben Best and friends helped rescue Britain's "loneliest sheep" Fiona after she had been stranded on a beach for two years.

Fiona is now enjoying a new life at the centre - but her arrival last year prompted protests from animal rights activists who feared she was being exploited.
