Dumfries and Galloway residents looking to have their garden waste collected from spring have just days left to apply for a permit.

The council’s garden waste recycling scheme will kick-off in March 2025, with permits costing £40 a bin.

But anyone looking to take full advantage of the service needs to get their application in by November 30.

Those who apply for their permit in time will receive a 240-litre wheelie bin that will be emptied every two weeks between March and November.

Anyone applying after December 1 will have to wait until June 2025 for their collections to start.

The council claims advantages of having a garden waste bin include freeing up space in the general bin, helping the environment and ensuring garden waste is recycled.
