Dumfries and Galloway's reputation as top Scottish golf destination in line for awards boost

Dumfries and Galloway’s reputation as one of Scotland’s top golfing destinations is in line for an awards boost.

Both Castle Douglas Golf Club and The Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries are both waiting to find out if they have been successful.

Castle Douglas Golf Club is in the running for the club of the year accolade at the Scottish Golf Awards, taking place in Glasgow on March 14.

The nomination states: “A club proud to be at the heart of its local community with a growing adult membership and thriving junior section.”

Less than a week later, it’s The Cairndale’s chance to shine with the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards taking place in Aberdeen on March 20.

It’s a finalist in the best premium hotel category.

Golf co-ordinator Claire Scott, formerly club manager at Lochmaben Golf Club, said: “We are proud to have been shortlisted in such prestigious awards which showcase one of the most important sectors in Scottish tourism.

"Dumfries and Galloway is often overlooked by tourists and golfers yet has some of the most scenic golf courses in the south of Scotland.”
