Duncan James is the latest star to join the cast of West End musical Chicago.

The Blue star will take over the role of Billy Flynn, which he originally played in 2008. It is currently being played by Martin Kemp , who took over the role from Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr .

James will star alongside Alexandra Burke , who recently joined the production to play the role of Roxie Hart.

The show also currently features Mazz Murray as Mama Morton, Josefina Gabrielle as Velma Kelly and Paul Rider as Amos Hart.

James’s previous West End roles include the London premiere of Legally Blonde the Musical, and was recently seen on screen as a cast member of Hollyoaks.

Chicago returned to the West End earlier this year after six years away. Prior to that it ran for fifteen years in London and became the West End’s longest running revival. In America it holds the title of longest running musical.

James will appear in the show from September 10. The show is currently booking for performances at the Phoenix Theatre until January 5.
