The late, great David Bowie was honoured at the 2017 BRIT Awards tonight (February 22).

Upon winning the British Male Solo Artist prize, Lazarus actor Michael C Hall accepted the award and paid tribute to The Thin White Duke.

Later on in the evening, Bowie was awarded the MasterCard Album of the Year prize, which was accepted by Duncan Jones - director of Moon, Warcraft: The Beginning, and more importantly, Bowie's son.

"Last year I lost a dad," Jones said on stage, "but I also became a dad, and I've been spending a lot of time thinking: what would I want my son to know about his granddad?

"I think it would be the same thing that most of my dad's fans have taken on in the last 50 years - that he's aways been there supporting people who think they are a little bit weird, or a little bit strange, or a little bit different, and he's always been there for them.

"So this is for all the kooks, and all the people who make the kooks. So thanks BRITs, and thanks to all his fans."

Duncan later added (in an NSFW tweet) an extra bit of the speech:

David Bowie tragically passed away in January 2016, shortly after the release of his album Blackstar, following a battle with cancer.

George Michael, who died on Christmas Day last year, was remembered with a posthumous duet with Coldplay's Chris Martin.
