Duo arrested after alleged attack on police officers in Coatbridge

Two people have been arrested following an alleged attack on a pair of police officers after they pulled over a car in North Lanarkshire.

The incident happened after cops stopped a vehicle in Coatbridge on Friday. The car was stopped at around 1pm on the town’s Sikeside Street.

A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were subsequently arrested in connection with police assault and disorder offences.

Two officers suffered injuries but did not require hospital treatment. Cops say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Friday, September 13, 2024, officers stopped a car on Sikeside Street, Coatbridge.

“A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with police assault and disorder offences and enquiries are ongoing. Two officers suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.”
