Durex recalls condoms after they fail 'burst test'

People are being urged to check their condoms are safe after a selection of Durex products failed a “burst test”.

The leading condom brand first issued the recall of its Durex Real Feel and Durex Latex Free products last July after they failed pressure tests towards the end of their shelf life.

The products affected are Durex Real Feel 12 pack, batch code 1000444370 expiry date Feb 2021, and Durex Latex Free 18 pack, batch code 1000430479, expiry date Jan 2021.

The products have since been completely removed from shop shelves, but any customers who still have the recalled batches can return them for a full refund.

Manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC advised customers to check the batch number on the bottom of the packet or on the foil wrapping of individual condoms.

The company said its recall was complete and all products available to consumers are compliant and have passed the “highest quality standards”.

It advised customers to speak to a pharmacist or doctor within 72 hours if a condom leaks or bursts.

Customers can return the product to the store they bought them from, or if this is not possible they can be posted to Reckitt Benckiser.

UK customers can return the product by freepost to RTGY-JCGE-EYAC, RB Consumer Relations, PO BOX 4644, Slough, SL1 0YB.

Republic of Ireland customers can send them to RB Consumer Relations, PO BOX 4044, Slough, SL1 0NS, and will be refunded the cost of postage.
