Durham gets its first ever dedicated karaoke bar as famous venue transformed
Calling all budding Robbie Williams and Adeles in Durham and the surrounding area, you can now get behind the mic at the city's first ever dedicated karaoke bar, as a well known venue takes on a new lease of life.
While of course, we're not trying to say that the air around Durham hasn't been filled with plenty of people belting out classic songs in the past, or that many pubs and bars, like the very well known Fighting Cocks, haven't had karaoke nights, the owners of Fowlers are claiming it is the first dedicated karaoke haunt to open in the city centre.
And the team behind Fowlers, which is going into the premises that used to be Wiff-Waff and before that Saints, know a thing or two about launching a successful Durham venue, as they have been running Jimmy Allen's for decades now, as it remains one of the busiest places every single weekend.

Fowlers, which has a large dancefloor on its ground floor and a karaoke stage upstairs, opened right in time for the university going back at the end of last month, with freshers flocking to get a first look as they settled into life in Durham. And it has also proved to be just as popular at the weekend too, with locals jumping at the chance to show off their vocals to their mates and the wider public.
All that's left to say is, if you see us belting out a bit of Simply The Best or Paradise By The Dashboard Light, mind your business, but be sure to join in with the chorus!
