Dust Devil Whirls Across Drought-Hit Land in South Australia

A dust devil swirling over a patch of drought-hit land in Blakeview, South Australia, was captured on video by local resident James Soar on Monday, December 16.

Soar told 9News: “It’s a common thing when ground is dry and there’s a bit of wind. I’ve seen many travelling through regional South Australia.”

The Bureau of Meteorology says that dust devils occur exclusively on fine, dry days and are usually harmless, but can sometimes cause minor structural damage to property. Credit: James Soar via Storyful
