Dust Off Your Shades: Sunny Weekend Ahead

Sunny spring weather is on the way this weekend, with forecasters predicting temperatures up to 15C (59F).

They say some parts of UK could be even warmer than Istanbul and Corfu - a "marked change" from the chill most have been experiencing this week .

The Met Office's Simon Partridge said: "We are going to have some milder conditions and there will be a marked change with spring temperatures from Saturday.

"The mild weather is coming in the from the south west, which originated in the Caribbean area and across the Atlantic.

"Moray in northeastern Scotland is looking to be the warmest part of the country due to the shelter from the Scottish Highlands.

"It will probably be about 15C (59F) but there is an outside chance of it reaching the high 16s or 17C (63F).

However, Sky News weather producer Rebecca Yussef warned not everyone would benefit.

"It is not going to be great for everybody," she said. "Northwestern parts of Scotland are going to be very wet and windy.

"With the very mild temperatures, there is a risk of snowmelt in parts of Scotland that will add to the risk of flooding after heavy rain."

Yussef went on: "The outlook for the weekend elsewhere in the country is good because of high pressure.

"That doesn't mean there will be wall-to-wall sunshine - there will be clouds in some parts. But for most parts of the country it will be dry and sunny.

"Saturday will see the best temperatures, making it feel very pleasant for most of us."

Yusuf said Sunday will be cooler.

"A band of rain will move south-eastwards across Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic and northern England on Sunday.

"Ahead of the rain band, it’ll remain dry and reasonably bright, with highs of 14C (57F).

"Behind the rain band, there’ll be sunny spells and a scattering of showers. It'll turn cooler there, too, with temperatures dropping back to around 8C (46F)."
