Dutch Police Officers Mind Children (And Do Dishes) After Mother Taken To Hospital

Police work can be dirty, especially if it involves doing the washing-up.

Two police officers in the Netherlands have won plaudits online for their willingness to pull up their sleeves and get stuck into the dishes.

The officers in Eindhoven looked after a woman’s five children in her home - and helped tidy up the kitchen - after she was taken to hospital suffering from low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).

The woman had five children in her home but no one to keep an eye on them while she was taken to hospital, so the two male officers offered to hold down the fort for a while.

They cooked the children a meal and did the dishes afterwards.

The force’s Facebook page said: “Another side of police work. Last week my colleagues received a notification in Woensel-Noord.

“An ambulance was on the spot because a woman was suffering from a hypo, she had low blood sugar. The woman was driven to the hospital, but there were still five young children in the home.

“Because the policemen had time to wait before they could hand the kids over to someone and the kids still hadn’t eaten, the officers made them something to eat.

“Our colleagues made them fried egg sandwiches and some fruit. Then of course, they had to do the dishes.”

The post on Facebook has more than 100,000 likes and more than 5,000 shares.

In the photo, one of the officers even wears blue rubber gloves to do the dishes.
