Dwayne Johnson isn't ready to feel the heat on Hot Ones just yet.

Sean Evans, who hosts the popular YouTube talk show, recently spoke with Bloomberg about Hot Ones and how he has been trying to get the actor, 52, on the series for years.

Though he told the outlet he once came close to closing a deal for Johnson to appear on the program — in which celebrity guests answer questions while eating chicken wings with various hot sauces — Evans, 38, revealed that the father of three had a very specific request tied to making an appearance.

"We’ve been pitching [The Rock] obviously for years and one time I got a note back that was like, ‘Would you be willing to do, instead of wings, grilled salmon strips?’ And in my head I was like, that had to come from his mouth," Evans said.

"That’s as close as we’ve gotten," he added. "And then it fell through."

Hot Ones, which describes itself as "the show with hot questions and even hotter wings," has seen various A-listers appear, including Lorde, Paul Rudd, DJ Khaled, Tyra Banks and Ariana Grande.

In 2020, Evans opened up to PEOPLE about who a dream guest would be for him: Howard Stern. The radio show host, 70, was an idol for Evans when he was studying broadcast journalism at the University of Illinois.

“Will Howard be scorching on chicken wings for the Internet’s amusement? Knowing what I know about him, as a gambling man, I don’t know if that’s where the money is,” Evans said at the time, adding, “But you never know.”

As for what he eats in his day-to-day life, the host detailed that wings are no longer his go-to meal, given that he eats them so often for work.

“When I’m off the clock, I’m just drinking juice and eating cereal and salads and stuff,” he told PEOPLE. “If I’m off the clock, I’m not eating wings.”
