Dwayne Johnson has explained why he pees in water bottles at the gym, clarifying that he only uses bottles that he won't ever use for water again.
The Hollywood star's unusual habit was first revealed in a 2017 Instagram video, in which a container of urine could be seen.
In that video he said: "I don’t have time to go to the bathroom, I find a bottle, I pee in it, and I keep training like a beast".
But in a new interview with Esquire, Johnson said he wanted to "give context" to why he decides to relieve himself in the gym.

He added: "It’s not a water bottle that I’ve actually purchased solely for water that you wash and clean when you’re done using it. These are just bottles that I’m no longer using.
"Usually the gyms that I work out in don’t have a bathroom because they’re the iron paradise. They’re just hot, sweaty and dirty."
The latest revelation comes hot on the heels of Johnson telling fans on social media that he takes three showers every single day.
He wrote: "Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work."
Johnson is currently promoting his work in the Netflix thriller Red Notice, in which he appears alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in an apparent bid to unite all of Hollywood's highest-paid stars in one place like Infinity Stones.
The movie sees Johnson's FBI agent and Reynolds' art thief reluctantly join forces to take on Gadot — a dangerous new criminal on the scene.
Rawson Marshall Thurber is in the director's chair, joining forces with Johnson again after films including Central Intelligence and Skyscraper.
Red Notice has received negative reviews from film critics, currently sitting at a 39% approval score on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
