Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's lengthy health battle that started when he was 15
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has candidly spoken about his secret 30-year struggle with depression. Despite being the highest paid actor in Hollywood and a global superstar following a successful wrestling career, Johnson's upbringing was far from easy.
The towering 6ft 5in star witnessed his mother attempt suicide after they were evicted from their apartment - an event that deeply affected the young Johnson. He previously revealed: "She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic. Big rigs and cars were swerving out of the way.
"Struggle and pain is real. I was devastated and depressed. I reached a point where I didn't want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly."

Johnson was 15 years old at the time. He managed to save his mother from the road by pulling her back - but his struggles didn't end there.
Johnson, now 52, said he wrestled with his mental health and described struggling with depression after his college football career ended and, later, after his divorce to his first wife Dany Garcia in 2008. He said this time he was able to identify his depression and "lean on" friends.
"I knew what it was at that time and luckily I had some friends that I could lean on and say, 'Hey I'm feeling a little wobbly now. I got a little struggle happening,'"he said.
He said being aware of his "mental pain" and talking to someone about it has made all of the difference. "I've worked hard over the years to gain the emotional tools to work through any mental pain that may come to test me. As men, we didn't talk about it. We just kept our head down and worked through it. Not healthy, but it's all we knew."
After carving a successful career as a WWE wrestling, Johnson moved on to acting with such films as Fast and Furious, the Jumanji films and Rampage.
