DWP Cold Weather Payment postcode checker for London and when it starts
The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) is continuing its Cold Weather Payment scheme this year. The scheme gives £25 to certain people for each seven-day period that the weather is forecast to be zero degrees.
The Cold Weather Payments are only eligible to be receieved between November 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. The payments are only entiled to people on cetain benefits or support for Mortgage Interest.
The payments are automatic and do not affect any other benefits. The payements are set by postcode area, and you are able to check your postcode from this handy postcode checker on the Gov.uk website.

Cold Weather Payment eligibility
To be eligible for Cold Weather Payments, you have to be receiving one of the following benefits:
Pension Credit
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Universal Credit
Support for Mortgage Interest
Even if you do get on of the following benefits, you are not then entitled to get the Cold Weather Payments as other criteria are also necessary. To see the eligibility list in full, click here.
If you are eligible then you will get your payments within 14 days after the seven-day period of cold weather. It will be paid into the same bank in which you receive your benefits.
If you are not eligible but think you should be, you should tell the Pension Service or Jobcentre Plus. If you are on Universal Credit, you can sign into your account and leave a note on your journal to highlight why you should be eligbile. Alternatively you can call the UC helpline.
