DWP list of 87 muscle and joint health conditions that could get you £737 in PIP payments
If you have a joint or muscle condition that affects your daily life, you could be eligible for £737 a month from the Department for Work and Pensions.
Latest figures from the DWP show there are more than 1.1 million people receiving Personal Independence Payments (PIP) for musculoskeletal conditions. Musculoskeletal conditions are injuries and disorders that affect the body's movement or musculoskeletal system such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, discs and blood vessels.
Arthritis is a general term that refers to many of these different conditions, however, some common conditions include osteoarthritis, back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, gout, polymyalgia rheumatica, lupus and ankylosing spondylitis. If you have one of these conditions, you could claim PIP from the DWP.

PIP is a benefit which is paid to people who have long-term mental or physical health conditions or disabilities. Unlike other benefits, you can get PIP even if you’re working, have savings or are getting most other benefits, reports the Mirror.
The amount you can be paid is dependent on the impact your health condition or disability has on your ability to do day to day tasks - not on the condition itself. This means a whole raft of conditions - including musculoskeletal conditions - can be eligible to claim.
PIP is made up of two components - a daily living rate and a mobility rate - and you can be entitled to both or just one of these. These components are then split again, into the standard rate and the enhanced rate. Currently, the standard rate for daily living sits at £72.65 and the enhanced is £108.55. For the mobility component, the standard rate is £28.70 a week and the enhanced is £75.75.
Below is a list of musculoskeletal conditions which could make you eligible for PIP - however it's important to remember that this is not a definitive list. So if your condition does not appear, don't be put off making a claim as it is about how the condition affects you, not the condition itself.
