DWP says one benefit won't receive £10 Christmas Bonus this year
The Department for Work and Pensions has warned one type of benefit WON'T receive the £10 Christmas bonus. The DWP is paying out its controversial £10 bonus to benefit claimants this December - but Universal Credit won't receive it.
The bonus will be paid to people who live or are "ordinarily resident" in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Gibraltar receiving one of the qualifying benefits. A total of 22 benefits are eligible for the £10 payment, the DWP has claimed.
But Universal Credit doesn't make the cut. Instead, the DWP will pay the sums to those who claim either Adult disability payment, the Armed Forces independence payment, Attendance allowance, Carer’s allowance or Child disability payment.

Other qualification criteria includes Constant attendance allowance (paid under industrial injuries or war pensions schemes), as well as Contribution-based employment and support allowance (once the main phase of the benefit is entered after the first 13 weeks of claim), Disability living allowance and Incapacity benefit at the long-term rate.
Industrial death benefit (for widows or widowers), Mobility supplement and Pension credit (the guarantee element) are also eligible. People who claim Personal independence payment (PIP), State pension (including graduated retirement benefit) and Severe disablement allowance (transitionally protected) could also receive the cash.
The rest of the benefits include Unemployability supplement or allowance (paid under industrial injuries or war pensions schemes), War disablement pension at state pension age, War widow’s pension, Widowed mother’s allowance, Widowed parent’s allowance and Widow’s pension.
You will need to be claiming your benefits during the qualifying week in order to get the bonus. This is usually the first full week of December. The money is normally sent automatically to bank accounts of those who are eligible at the start of December.
You do not need to claim it, the DWP states.
