DWP to send letters about £150 energy bill discount to millions this October
Starting from October, millions of UK households are set to receive correspondence from the Government about assistance with their energy bills over the wintertime. The Warm Home Discount will offer particular low-income pensioners and households a deduction of £150 on one of their energy bills.
Eligible candidates for this one-off discount, available between October and March, will be notified by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) through letters dispatched in the upcoming weeks.
These letters will outline the specifics of the Warm Home Discount scheme and provide recipients with clarity on what support to anticipate. Typically, the discount is automatically credited to energy bills or distributed as a voucher.

The advantageous scheme is accessible to pensioners who are beneficiaries of the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit, as well as low-income households encountering hefty energy costs. Charity organisation Age UK elaborated: "The Warm Home Discount is a one-off payment of £150 to help with the cost of energy during the winter. It's designed to make things a bit easier if you're living on a low income or pension.", reports Birmingham Live.
"If your electricity supplier is part of the Warm Home Discount scheme then you don't need to apply for it you'll get the payment automatically if you or your partner receive the Guarantee Credit portion of Pension Credit, or another qualifying benefit, and have high energy costs. Getting a Warm Home Discount doesn't affect your entitlement to a Winter Fuel Payment or the Cold Weather Payment."

"Most eligible households will receive the Warm Home Discount automatically. If you're eligible, you'll receive a letter telling you about the discount. Then, your electricity supplier will automatically apply the discount to your bill by the end of March."
"This is different from previous years when you had to claim the money from your supplier if you weren't claiming the Guarantee Credit portion of Pension Credit."
