Dwyane Wade's next gig: Game show host

Since retiring from the NBA, Dwyane Wade has been honing his broadcast chops as a member of TNT’s NBA studio team.

Now the future Hall of Famer has a new TV gig — game show host.

Wade is slated to host an American version of British game show hit “The Cube” set to premiere on — well, that’s not clear.

Deadline broke the news on Wednesday while reporting that parent company Warner Media will deliver the show to the Turner network, where it will air either on TNT, TBS or truTV. Wade will also executive produce.

According to the report, the show is slated to debut in 2021. The report makes no mention of COVID-19 and the obvious impact the pandemic would have on shooting a close-quarters game show. It appears that producers are optimistic the show will be able to move forward sometime next year.

How exactly does this game work?

So what is “The Cube?” It’s a show that places contestants in a plastic box to complete mental and physical challenges for money.

We’ve admittedly never seen an episode and are assuming there’s more to the actual cube than just a gimmick to give the show a name. Or maybe there’s not. Here’s a clip of the original version where the cube plays zero role in the task at hand.

That’s just a woman throwing balls into baskets for money — a task Wade is intimately familiar with.

Apparently, Brits eat this up. In all honestly, Americans probably will too if the stakes are high enough.
