An urgent recall of more than 60 food items has been initiated by manufacturers due to concerns about a potential E.coli outbreak that has resulted in hospitalisations across the UK. The company THIS! became the latest to withdraw one of its products as a "precautionary measure" amidst the health scare.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced that THIS! has alerted customers to return its vegan chicken and bacon wrap, available exclusively at WH Smith, due to safety concerns, the MEN reported. The FSA advises anyone who has bought the wrap up to and including Tuesday, June 18, not to consume it but to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

This action follows closely on the heels of recalls by Greencore Group and Samworth Brothers Manton Wood, who have pulled various sandwiches, wraps, and salads from the shelves of prominent UK supermarkets amid links to the E. coli outbreak. Greencore's recalled products include a range of sandwiches, wraps, and salads stocked by Sainsbury's, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, Co-op, Tesco and Boots. A comprehensive list of these items is provided below.

Commenting on the situation, Darren Whitby, the head of incidents at the Food Standards Agency, stated: "Sandwich manufacturers are taking a precautionary measure to recall various sandwiches wraps and salads in response to findings from investigations by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), who are working to identify the cause of an ongoing outbreak caused by shiga toxin-producing E.coli (Stec)."

More than 200 cases of the infection have been confirmed across the UK so far. The figure is expected to rise as whole genome sequencing is ongoing to find any further cases which may be linked to the outbreak.
