Eagles coach Doug Pederson cleared after positive COVID-19 test, returns to work

Fortunately for Doug Pederson, his time away from the Philadelphia Eagles was short.

The team announced that Pederson was back with the team at the facility. The team announced on Aug. 2 that Pederson had tested positive for COVID-19, and he was quarantined since.

The Eagles announced Tuesday that standout right tackle Lane Johnson had been activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list. Johnson said on July 29 he tested positive for the virus.

Pederson was the second NFL coach to acknowledge a positive coronavirus test. New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton was the first. Los Angeles Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” on Tuesday night that he tested positive as well. It’s unclear when Lynn tested positive but he was cleared before camp started.

Teams have to have contingency plans in place for everyone this season, and that will include head coaches and coordinators.
