Eamonn Holmes has found a new friend amid his split from Ruth Langsford but the connection is far from new.

One week after the news was shared through a shock joint statement, the Belfast-born presenter, 64, is reportedly consoled in his separation heartbreak by a blonde divorcee in her forties, working as a relationship counsellor. Both Eamonn and his lady friend are said to have met one another last year and their friendship is blossoming.

The pair have embarked on several outings together, including to a safari park, and Eamonn is said to have treated his friend to several gifts while also endorsing a charity linked to her work and helping to host a fundraiser, the Mirror reports.

Last year, Eamonn attended a Beyonce concert and a Centre Parcs visit with his close friend and also treated her to tickets to see his favourite team, Manchester United.

Eamonn met his new friend when she commented on a post on Twitter, now X, and their friendship on the social media platform became IRL. The Daily Mirror has reached out to Eamonn's representatives for comment.

"She works for a charity Eamonn is involved with from time to time", an insider close to Eamonn said. Meanwhile, Ruth is said to be fuming as she was only made aware of the connection recently.

"Ruth was obviously aware that her marriage was crumbling, but as details emerge, her upset has turned to anger. Eamonn's friend is bowled over by being lavished with attention and kindness from him", a source told The Sun on Sunday.

While Eamonn has opened up about the breakup, Ruth continues to avoid the storm around her personal life but former Gladiators presenter Ulrika Jonsson has spoken out in her favour, branding Eamonn "a leading member of the Grumpy Old Men's Club", while maintaining she still liked him "a lot."

Ulrika criticised Ruth's haters who have deemed her "Ruthless" for leaving Eamonn at a dark time, due to his ongoing health struggles. "This is baffling to me. Let's face it, Eamonn, 64, has become a leading member of the Grumpy Old Men's club over the years and he's a proper curmudgeon", Ulrika penned.

"It could just be that all his moaning got on Ruth's nerves. There she is, wanting to crack on with life, and she's got an old misery on two walking sticks dragging her down."

She added: "Ruth is a damn fine-looking woman and she's smart, empathetic and full of energy - any man would be lucky to have her. I'm sure Eamonn appreciated he was always punching above his weight with Ruth, and I don't doubt he loved her very much."

Some pals of Eamonn have also broken their silence and, unfortunately, Ruth and Eamonn's abrupt separation could turn ugly, despite the duo being a solid couple, both on and off-screen, for 14 years.

The Mirror has reached out to Eamonn's reps for comment.
