Eamonn Holmes has faced the rather blunt opinion of one of his guests on This Morning.

Experts Steve Miller and Kirsten Davies appeared on the show to discuss weight loss, though things took a turn for the awkward when discussing the delicate issue of telling people they're fat to their face.

"Would you use to F-word to me, for instance?" Eamonn asked.

"Would I say you're fat?" Steve then replied. "I would say, 'Eamonn, I adore you, but you are too fat.'"

The expert also came up with a solution, suggesting: "You've got to be told, but at the same time you've also got to be given some solutions to help you lose weight, such as me coming to live with you for a bit, or something like that."

Co-presenter and wife Ruth Langsford then proposed moving out for a bit, though things did get slightly awkward between the couple during the segment.

Eamonn accused his wife of being a "feeder", asking Steve: "How about wives who are feeders who beef up their husbands so women won't look at them?"

After Steve then asked if she had been feeding her husband, Ruth replied: "That's what I did." Eamonn added: "That's why."

Steve and Kirsten did disagree on the approach to weight loss, with the latter saying it was about "nourishment not punishment".

Yet Steve also described being fat as "carrying something like a duvet around you that is hiding your true beauty". Hmm, yeah...

This Morning airs on ITV.
