Eamonn Holmes has found solace in an afternoon tea with TV presenter Hayley Sparkes amidst his shock marriage split from Ruth Langsford.

The 64 year old broadcaster and the Loose Women star, also 64, stunned the showbiz world when they announced their divorce last month after 14 years of marriage.

While Ruth has remained quiet on the matter, Eamonn expressed gratitude for the public's support during a segment on GB News.

Speaking on air, he said: "So here we are on this Tuesday morning and a lot of politics. Just before we move on I would just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."

Meanwhile, Ruth has been sharing snippets of her life post-split on social media, the Mirror reports.

Hayley Sparkes took to Instagram on Monday to post pictures from her time with Eamonn as they worked on a piece for travel company Not Just Travel at Down Hall Hotel, Bishop's Stortford.

The photos included a smiling snapshot of the pair and a showcase of the delectable treats they sampled, such as macarons, cakes, finger sandwiches, and tarts.

Another shot featured Hayley ready to shoot in front of the grand hotel, beaming into the camera.

Sharing a series of snaps, she captioned the post: "What a great start to the week- filming at the stunning Down Hall Hotel and Spa for Not Just Travel. Thank you so much to the lovely team at Down Hall for looking after all of us so well and for the delicious afternoon tea! ".

Hayley also uploaded a picture of the impressive spread, showing Eamonn indulging in the feast across the table. Her caption read: "A break from filming for afternoon tea."

While fans were taken aback by the news of Ruth and Eamonn's split, their close friends weren't surprised.

Another source revealed that signs of strain had appeared following their departure from This Morning, with the couple essentially living "separate lives" for two years prior to their breakup.

An insider claimed: "Eamonn and Ruth's relationship changed when they left This Morning. They started moving in different directions in their careers and their priorities started to change.

"Eamonn was keen to return to Belfast, his beloved hometown, but Ruth was not willing to relocate. This became a major issue between them."

"As Ruth continued her journey with ITV, Eamonn pursued different opportunities, leading them to become like ships passing in the night. They have effectively been leading separate lives, both professionally and personally, for the last couple of years."
