Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have called time on their 14-year marriage.

Rumours of a shock split began swirling on Saturday, with the couple's representatives later confirming the news.

Their joint statement announced: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Speculation had been mounting about the popular pair, known for their on-screen chemistry on ITV's This Morning, especially after they hadn't been seen together publicly for some time.

The couple, famous for their on-air spats, always maintained that any on-screen arguments were all in good fun, reports the Mirror.

The revelation of their separation will undoubtedly stun fans who viewed them as one of television's most candid and stable couples.

Their relationship came under the spotlight in 2020 when they were dropped from This Morning. While Ruth remained with ITV on Loose Women, Eamonn has since taken several swipes at his former bosses following his move to GB News.

Eamonn has openly criticised his departure from ITV, claiming he was let go 'without warning' and accusing network chiefs of lacking kindness. "They tossed me out of the door and didn't care where I was going," Eamonn expressed his frustration.

At 64 years old, the star has been seen in a wheelchair and with crutches due to chronic pain and declining health. This week his wife Ruth detailed the struggles their marriage has faced due to his health problems.

Ruth opened up to Woman's Weekly, she said: "I don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope.

"He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy. It's testing but we manage as a family.'".

She went on to say: "I look at Eamonn, who's had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is."

The couple share a son together, Jack, 22, and Eamonn also has three other children from a previous marriage; sons Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and daughter Rebecca, 33.

Notably, Ruth hasn't posted about Eamonn on social media since July 2022.

Meeting in 1997, Ruth and Eamonn were introduced by mutual friends, dated for over 10 years until Eamonn proposed, and then tied the knot in 2010.

When questioned about the secret behind their relationship, Ruth has said: "I think always respect, mutual respect. And we laugh a lot. I think love and lust and everything's wonderful at the start of a relationship. But really...you've got to have that connection as friends where you feel comfortable with each other."
