Early Week 8 fantasy pickups: Jalen Richard will be popular add

Week 8 marks the halfway point to Fantasy Super Bowls for the majority of leagues. With every team working on being in the hunt for a championship, each week presents new opportunities on the waiver wire to improve your roster. Here are four players to consider adding for Week 8.

Jalen Richard, RB, Oakland Raiders – 11% owned

With Marshawn Lynch suspended, pending appeal, this could be Richard’s moment to shine. He had 76 yards on 13 touches on Thursday, and has averaged 5.5 yards per carry over the course of his career.  Richard is a favorite of the analytical community, leading the NFL in PFF’s elusiveness rating last season. He and DeAndre Washington will handle the full workload without Lynch in uniform.

Jordan Matthews, WR, Buffalo Bills – 31%

Matthews had a quiet Sunday (2 catches on three targets for 10 yards), but returned from a fractured thumb. Going forward, he should return to the primary role in Buffalo’s receiving corps and has upcoming matchups against the Raiders, New York Jets and New Orleans Saints – all generous to opposing receivers.

Robby Anderson, WR, New York Jets – 19%

Anderson caught a touchdown pass against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and saw 12 targets in Week 6. He’s a primary receiving option for a better-than-advertised offense. He also has 4.34 speed, but not always the greatest hands.

Dede Westbrook, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars – 2%

For those of you in deeper leagues, the rookie will come off IR after the Jaguars’ bye in Week 8, and he should immediately have a role. Allen Robinson’s absence has left 150 targets freed up. Westbrook had 17 TD receptions and 1,524 yards at Oklahoma last season. He was turning heads in the preseason before the injury; Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee are nothing special.
