East Belfast residents on what they want from new MPs

The 2024 General Election has been and gone millions of voters across the UK headed to the polls.

Across the UK there are key issues in every region and consituency that will drive voters choices such as the cost of living, the NHS, education, transport, infrastructure and immigration and at Belfast Live we were keen to find out what the people of East Belfast thought were the key issues.

For the majority of voters that we spoke with, funding of the health service was the primary issue, particularly due to the impact of lengthy waiting lists for procedures. Increased funding and investment in public services across Northern Ireland was a common theme among voters.

Improved transportation links across the city, especially in the evening and night time economy as people struggle to work and go out in the evenings to enjoy themselves.

Education was another key issue raised by voters along with the impact of National Service proposals and immigration.
