East Belfast traffic warning issued ahead of Oval clash
Road users are being advised to plan for potential traffic disruption in the east Belfast area on Friday 31st January due to the Irish Cup sixth round football match between Glentoran and Linfield.
The match will take place at The Bet McLean Oval Stadium, kicking off at 7.45pm, and it is expected that up to 6,000 supporters will be in attendance.
A build-up of traffic is to be expected in the areas of Sydenham Road, Dee Street, Lower Newtownards Road and areas surrounding the stadium before and after the game.

Issuing a traffic warning on Thursday, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Supporters are advised to plan their journey in advance and also be reminded that roadworks are scheduled to take place on the Sydenham Bypass from 10pm on Friday, 31st January until 6am on Monday, 3rd February.
“Those travelling home from the match should take this into account when planning their journey. We would ask that those driving to the match park with consideration for local residents and businesses, and that supporters are respectful and considerate whilst walking through residential streets convenient to the stadium.
“The areas around the stadium are ‘No Street Drinking’ zones under Belfast City Council by-laws and these by-laws should be complied with at all times.”
