Emergency services have rushed to East Croydon station after a passenger was hit by a train.
The male was hit on Saturday morning between East Croydon and Clapham Junction station and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trains have been delayed by up to an hour-and-a-half and some have been cancelled following the incident which happened at about 9.15am.
Southern Rail tweeted: “Due to a person being hit by a train between #EastCroydon and Clapham Junction some lines are blocked.”
And Network Rail said that station staff were on site with British Transport Police officers and emergency crews.
National Rail added that disruption was expected to last until midday.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to East Croydon Railway Station at 9am on Saturday the 11th March 2017 following reports that a person had been struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and the London Ambulance service arrived on scene a short time after however regrettably a male was pronounced deceased at the scene
“The incident is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
