EastEnders have denied that Tameka Empson has quit the soap after 10 years.

The 32-year-old actress has played Kim Fox in Albert Square since 2009 but is taking a break from the BBC soap.

Next weeks episodes will see Kim reveal to sister Denise (Diane Parish) that she is leaving Walford to accept a new job in Scotland.

But an EastEnders insider told Yahoo UK: “Kim will be back in the future.”

No further information is being released in order to keep upcoming storylines strictly under wraps.

But the Albert Square source insists Kim’s character has only been written out of the show in order for Empson to take some time off.

Kim has been living with her sister Denise since her husband Vincent, played by Richard Blackwood, disappeared from Walford last year in mysterious circumstances.

Empson took five months off from the soap in 2014 after giving birth to her daughter Nylah.

Earlier this year Empson took part in Celebrity Apprentice for Comic Relief - which saw her going shopping for ingredients to make canapes with Rachel Johnson.

She also appeared on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 and was partnered up with Gorka Marquez.

Empson has been nominated for Best Comedy Performance at the British Soap Awards four times, but never won.

She has however won Funniest Female Performance at the Inside Soap Awards.
