East Kilbride homes could be left with no water supply tonight due to burst pipe

Households in East Kilbride could be left with no water supply tonight due to repair works for a burst pipe.

Scottish Water warned of the burst water main earlier this afternoon which has resulted in a road closure on Eaglesham Road between Hairmyres Roundabout and the roundabout to Hairmyres Hopsital at Strathtay Avenue.

Access is still being provided for vehicles both entering and exiting the hospital.

Repairs to the burst water main are due to take place at 11 pm tonight in an effort to minimise the disruption to water supplies in the area.

In a statement, Scottish Water said: "Please be aware that when the repair commences, you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure.

"You may also experience discoloured water."

There is currently no set time frame as to how long the repairs will last.
