East Kilbride motorist allegedly caught with 63 bags of cocaine in traffic stop

Plain-clothes police allegedly discovered 63 bags of cocaine during a traffic stop in East Kilbride on Saturday (January 18).

Officers stopped the vehicle on Calderwood Road, searching both the vehicle and the two people inside. Police said the cocaine had an estimated street value of £2,169. Officers also recovered £100 cash and mobile phones.

Police said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "On Saturday the 18th of January 2025 plain clothes officers stopped a vehicle on Calderwood Road, East Kilbride.

"There were two persons within the vehicle and both were subjected to a search along with the vehicle. Officers recovered 63 bags containing cocaine with a estimated street value of £2169, along with £100 in cash and mobile phones.

"A 31-year-old male and a 39-year-old female were arrested and conveyed to a local police station where they were both later released. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
