East London Shopping Center Cleared as Fire Breaks Out

Shoppers were evacuated from the Westfield shopping center in Stratford on October 17 after a fire broke out in one of the stores.

Around 60 firefighters were at the scene, the London Fire Brigade said.

“Firefighters tackled a small fire within a shop on the first floor of a shopping centre. The shopping centre was evacuated and no injuries were reported,” the service said.

The cause was being investigated and the center said on Twitter it would remain closed until further notice. Credit: Clement Gonzalvez via Storyful
