East Lothian locals raging as fly tippers dump 'entire kitchen' on country lane
East Lothian residents have aired their frustrations with fly tipping after a massive pile of rubbish was discarded on a scenic road.
Among the debris was a refrigerator, freezer, thick insulation, and a car registration plate. The hill of trash was found on Myles Farm Road in Tranent on Saturday, November 16.

An image from the scene shows the heap of white goods which - in the words of an East Lothian resident - appear to be from a kitchen refurb.
Following the discovery, locals sounded off on social media with many claiming that fly tipping had grown increasingly common in recent years.
Some called for the local community to crack down on the practice, calling it “disrespectful” and “disgusting”.
Others reported that disposing of waste has grown expensive and that fly tipping could be alleviated if lawful disposal was easier and cheaper.

In September, Edinburgh Live reported on an East Lothian campaign to reopen the Macmerry Recycling Centre after claims that fly tipping had increased.
The centre closed in October 2023, sparking protest from locals who reported more incidents of fly-tipping and additional traffic on one town main street as drivers are diverted to alternative sites.
Three recycling centres remain open in the area in North Berwick, Dunbar, and Wallyford.
