East Midlands Airport unveils 'stunning' new Mediterranean destination
A sunny Greek island in the Mediterannean will soon be just one flight and one ferry trip from East Midlands Airport (EMA). Jet2, which already has flights to the island of Kos, will be providing ferry trips onwards to Leros in summer 2025.
There will be two departures each week to the island, with all the connections taken care of, meaning people can book package holidays to Leros. Jet2 said in a statement: "In response to strong demand for Greek holidays, today’s expansion has seen the leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator reveal the new Greek island destinations of Leros for Summer '25.
"Customers can reach Leros via Kos Airport, with up to two weekly services departing from East Midlands Airport in summer '25. Customers travelling with Jet2holidays have ferry and shuttle transfers included."

Jet2 said Leros, which is part of the Dodecanese islands, is known for its "crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches and peaceful atmosphere". They said it makes it the "ultimate pick for a relaxing, go-slow summer holiday".
The island's capital, Platanos, is known for its hills and clusters of windmills. Another popular spot is Agia Marina, which has stately homes and impressive architecture. There's also the traditional fishing village of Panteli and it's easy to get to the nearby islands of Kalymnos, Kos and Nisyros too, Jet2 said.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “The launch of Leros, a stunning and brand-new Greek island from East Midlands Airport, is fantastic news for our customers and it comes in direct response to the demand for our award-winning holidays. We are expanding our summer sun programme significantly and we know that the introduction of the island of Leros will be hugely popular with customers and independent travel agents.”
Steve Griffiths, EMA’s managing director, said: “Greece and its islands are hugely popular holiday options for our customers, with dozens of different Greek destinations available from EMA.
“We welcome Jet2’s decision to add an exciting new destination from next summer, and we have no doubt customers will welcome the extra choice too. We look forward to welcoming them for a relaxing start to discovering a new holiday favourite.”
