East Riding of Yorkshire Council has seen success at the annual Public Service Excellence (APSE) Service Awards which took place in Bristol on September 12.

Each year, over 200 councils from across the country enter to win a variety of awards, all whilst raising money for Parkinson's UK.

The authorities submit data which is independently validated, and compared with other authorities to see how effective services are, and identify those authorities which have shown the best performance or biggest improvements.

In this year's awards, councils fought it out across 17 different categories, covering the majority of local services.

The Health and Wellbeing Group, who manage the East Riding leisure centres, Active Communities, Health Services, Commuted Sums and Active Withernsea, were victorious in the competitive category of Best Service Team: Sports, Leisure and Cultural Service.

Cllr Nick Coultish, East Riding Council’s cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said, “Huge congratulations to everyone in the Health and Wellbeing Group who helped to achieve this prestigious award win."

He continued: ‘’I am overjoyed with the team’s passion and commitment to excellence and I am sure that there will be many more achievements to celebrate in the future.’’
