East Texas 61-year-old injured after being shot in face

TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK) – A 61-year-old man was injured and a woman was arrested after a shooting in Texarkana Wednesday night.

According to police, they received a 911 call about a shooting inside a house in the 1600 block of W. 16th Street around 8:30 p.m. where authorities said they found a man who “had been shot in the face once by his girlfriend’s daughter.”

Ashley Gearalds, 34, was arrested at the scene for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

“We are still investigating, but the shooting appears to have been the result of some type of argument between the two of them,” police said.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment and authorities said he is listed in stable condition, and the weapon was found in the front yard of the home.
