EastEnders airs crushing relapse for Linda after Bernie return

Linda Carter relapsed into alcohol consumption on EastEnders following Bernie Taylor’s return to Walford.
Linda’s world was turned upside down after she fatally stabbed Keanu Taylor on Christmas Day last year, with the character’s mental health deteriorating as she became dependent on alcohol.
After a tense few months, Linda confessed to Bernie that she was the one who had killed her brother, with the fellow members of The Six – Stacey, Denise, Suki, Kathy and Sharon – all confirming that they too were present at the scene of the crime.

An enraged Bernie left for Germany back in September, but returned to the Square after hearing that Nish Panesar – Suki’s ex-husband – had taken the blame for Keanu’s murder despite Linda’s attempts to confess.
Monday’s (November 11) episode began with Bernie confronting Linda outside the Queen Vic, expressing her desire for The Six to face justice. Linda reasoned that Nish, though innocent in Keanu’s death, deserved to be behind bars for various other crimes.
An embittered Bernie wasn’t in any mood to be pushed around, however, reiterating that she wanted everybody involved to pay. Before she left, she made a barb about Linda’s past with alcohol, planting a seed in her mind as she handed her a bottle of vodka.

Bernie later went to Suki’s to inform her of her plan, who echoed the sentiments of Linda by reaffirming that Nish ultimately deserved to be in prison. Suki pleaded with Bernie to remain quiet for the sake of her family, though Bernie emphasised that her own family had needs too.
Linda, meanwhile, spoke with her mother Elaine about Bernie’s latest visit, growing more anxious with each question. Later in the day, Linda cancelled her appointment with her recovery coordinator as she began to drink once more…
