EastEnders airs Maya exit after tragic Harvey accident

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has aired Maya Houssain's exit following Harvey Monroe's tragic accident.

Earlier this week, Harvey narrowly avoided tragedy when he fell asleep in a hot car with baby Charli Slater in the backseat. While the baby was ultimately fine, doctors warned Lily Slater that Charli could have died if left much longer.

Harvey was then forced to come clean to girlfriend Jean Slater in Wednesday's (August 21) episode that he'd been working extra hours to give money to Maya.

Viewers know that Maya's husband Abdul is the man who Harvey's right-wing extremist son Aaron tried to murder a few years ago.

With Jean shattered by her partner's lies, Harvey later met up with Maya to explain that Charli nearly died because he was overworking himself.

Maya was so disturbed by how close they'd come to tragedy that she decided it was best to cut off contact with Harvey immediately.

"I came looking for you because I was angry. I'm not angry anymore and that's down to you," she assured Harvey.

Harvey was relieved that this saga with Maya was now fully behind him, yet his partner Jean was not willing to just move on after his many lies.

Jean confessed to Harvey that she wasn't sure their relationship could survive since she no longer trusted him.

"I don't think there is any 'me and you' anymore, Harvey," she said sadly.

Former Doctors actor Bharti Patel first arrived on screens earlier in the summer, with Maya introduced as a new friend for Harvey. However, it later came out that Maya had intentionally started getting close to Harvey to get even for Aaron's extremism years ago.
