Yahoo News EastEnders airs new setback for Karen Taylor next week
EastEnders' Karen Taylor will suffer a brand new setback next week as she gets to grips with her responsibilities at the launderette.
Karen's luck appeared to be changing when she was offered Dot Branning's old job at the local launderette, now that it's been revived following the dry cleaners plan.
Sadly, Karen's big break doesn't resolve her financial problems completely and upcoming scenes will see her continue to struggle to make ends meet.
However, after coming up with a way to make some extra money by ironing people's clothes, Karen's new plan could cost her the launderette job altogether.
Having recruited her daughter Bernadette to help out with the ironing, disaster strikes when the teen gets distracted and accidentally burns one of Ted's shirts.
Karen is distraught when Ted threatens to complain to her boss about ruining his laundry – acutely aware that she'll get the sack if he finds out what she's been up to.
Thankfully, Masood Ahmed steps in to save the day as he encourages Ted to be reasonable and not report Karen for her mistake.
Ever the diplomat, Masood comes up with a way that the pair can resolve the issue – suggesting that Karen compensates Ted with money instead.
Although Ted is happy to accept the offer, it leaves Karen in quite a predicament given that she can't afford to pay for his silence.
After taking further advice from Masood, Karen decides to seek Ted out at the pub where she tries a new tactic and begs for his forgiveness. Will he agree to let it go? Or is Karen in big trouble?
EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday, January 25 and Friday, January 26 on BBC One.
