EastEnders airs two major Ruby twists

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders is set to air two major twists for Ruby Allen as part of her soap return.

Louisa Lytton, who left the soap in 2021, will be back in Albert Square next week in a dramatic comeback episode that sees her confront former partner Martin Fowler with some life-changing news.

It turns out Ruby wasn't lying and Sharon's suspicions are right - Martin is the father of a child he doesn't know about. But there's more to the story.

Back in September, Sharon found out that Ruby had left prison to give birth to a child, learning this from her former stepmother Chrissie, who used to share a cell with Ruby.

Sharon sat on the information for a while, trying to find the right moment to share the news with Martin, who has been otherwise preoccupied with Sonia’s imprisonment and the closure of Bridge Street market.

Next week, viewers will see Sharon break the news to Martin and later provide physical evidence of his child with a birth certificate. It's not long after the revelation that a stunned Martin is reunited with Ruby, who turns up on his doorstep to confirm the truth in person.

Ruby barges in and accuses Martin of breaking into her home, but Sharon corrects her. When Martin demands to know if they have a child together, Ruby finally admits they have a son.

Also present in the confrontation is Stacey, who Martin confided in after Sharon broke the news of his long-lost son.

There's a war of words between former-friends-now-enemies Stacey and Ruby and as the tension rises, Ruby delivers another bombshell - she gave their son up for adoption.

Martin is devastated and after another row, Ruby storms out angrily.

Later in the week, Martin shares his plans to find Ruby to get their son’s adoption details, and Stacey offers some help.

She tells him she went home in one of Kat’s cabs which should lead him to his former partner. However, the booking isn’t for a home address, it’s actually for a hospital.

After arriving at the hospital, Martin and Stacey spot Ruby and follow her to a room where a sick toddler is sleeping. It turns out Ruby has lied again.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
