EastEnders airs unexpected romantic twist for Sharon and Keanu

EastEnders has aired an unexpected romantic twist for Sharon Watts and Keanu Taylor.

The couple got back together at the end of Tuesday's (November 7) episode, though Sharon has no idea Keanu and his mum Karen are behind the kidnapping of young Albie.

Keanu came up with the shocking plot as a way to convince Sharon not to move to Abu Dhabi for a job, going so far as to demand a £50,000 ransom for the safe return of the child.

Sharon had asked former husband Phil Mitchell for the money to pay off the kidnapper and chose not to get the police involved.

Keanu devised a risky plan where he convinced Sharon and Phil to let his mum Karen deliver the money at midday in the park.

While Sharon had originally wanted Keanu to do the exchange with Phil Mitchell so they could take revenge on the kidnapper, she eventually relented.

Karen was then put into the pressure-filled position of having to take part in the fake handover, so she enlisted daughter Kandice's husband Malcolm to pretend to be the kidnapper.

Somehow, Karen was able to pull it all off as she delivered Albie home to Sharon and Keanu without her role in the kidnapping ever being exposed.

Sharon was so overwhelmed with joy to have her son home safe that she promised Keanu she would turn down the job in Abu Dhabi.

"You love Albie so much, and I'm so sorry I considered taking him away from you," a tearful Sharon told Keanu.

He replied: "It's not just Albie that I love."

Keanu and Sharon even agreed to get back together as a couple, but it may only be a matter of time before their plot is exposed since Karen still has the £50,000 ransom from Phil.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
