Yahoo News EastEnders' Jake Wood shares his festive vow renewal
Max Branning's revenge plot on EastEnders may be getting more dangerous by the minute, but actor Jake Wood's personal life is seemingly more harmonious than ever.
The soap veteran and his wife Alison recently held a festival-themed vow renewal ceremony to mark their 16th wedding anniversary, and it went off like a dream.
Among those gathered for 'Wed Fest' in Hertfordshire were past and present EastEnders co-stars Jo Joyner, Lorna Fitzgerald, Scott Maslen, Steve McFadden and Jacqueline Jossa, along with fellow former Strictly Come Dancing competitors Frankie Bridge, Steve Backshall and Judy Murray.
"We had such an amazing day when we got married but we didn't have much money, so it was all done on a very tight budget with just a few guests," Jake explained to OK! Magazine. "We wanted to do it all again but in a bigger way."
On inviting his former Strictly co-stars, the actor explained: "'We bonded through fear! You go through a unique, scary experience and you get incredibly close to everyone. They're friends for life. Frankie and Wayne [Bridge] are great friends of ours. Wayne and Alison got to know each other really well through Strictly."
Jake also spoke about how important it is that both he and Alison regularly make time for each other, after 16 years of wedded bliss.
'We obviously love each other a lot but also we've always wanted the same things," he explained. "You've got to work hard at it and you've got to talk. Alison's taught me that.
"We always have a date night once a week when we just hang out, catch up and talk. It's a chance for us to check in with one another to make sure we're still on track.'
