Kat Moon is officially back in EastEnders, and not a moment too soon!

The soap has spent the last week building to Kat's on-screen return to Walford for an episode penned by one of the show's most acclaimed scriptwriters Tony Jordan.

The drama all started last week when a distraught Big Mo (Laila Morse) arrived on Stacey Slater's (Lacey Turner) doorstep claiming that Kat had drowned in the boating accident from the end of spin-off Redwater, and that Alfie (Shane Richie) had run off with the couple's children.

It quickly became clear that Big Mo wasn't being entirely truthful about Kat's demise, with Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) ultimately arriving in Albert Square to tell Stacey that Kat is very much alive and well.

In Thursday's double bill, Big Mo initially tried to play off Jean's revelation by assuring Stacey that Jean was simply confused - but the sloppy obituary in the local paper led to a showdown where Mo admitted that she'd lied so she could swindle £5,000 to pay off a loan shark named Terry.

"You're disgusting… I can't even look at you," Stacey seethed. "I'm gonna fill this sink up and I'm gonna drown ya!"

Meanwhile, a fundraiser to pay for Kat's funeral costs was being held at the Vic just as the woman herself turned up in Albert Square. The first half-hour came to an end with Kat spotting a flyer announcing her death, and marching over to the Slaters' house.
