EastEnders star Jake Wood has revealed that Max Branning's long-running revenge plot could go on for three years.

Max has been playing a slow and steady game ever since he returned to Walford last Christmas and joined forces with the enigmatic Weyland and Co, who appear to have some concerning plans for the place.

More recently, Max's storyline has started to gather momentum as we've seen him manipulate Shirley Carter into selling the freehold on The Vic and team up with Charlie Cotton to get revenge on his own brother Jack Branning.

But if fans thought the plot would conclude anytime soon, it seems they were way off.

In fact, Jake has likened the story to Max's affair with Stacey Fowler, which ran for several years and had various twists and turns.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Jake said: "All the best storylines that people enjoy are mapped out over a long period.

"With Max and Stacey – that was always a three-year storyline and Max's revenge is going to play out for at least that long, hopefully."

Lorna Fitzgerald – who plays Jake's on-screen daughter Abi – spoke briefly about Max's plot on This Morning today (May 24), saying that it's set to get bigger and bigger.

EastEnders continues tomorrow night (Thursday, May 25) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
